A little about Capital...
Capital Volleyball Academy is entering its first season of competition in 2007-2008. The emergence of this new organization offers a renewed commitment to the highest level of training at an affordable cost. The coaching staff of CVA has an abundance of experience and knowledge.
Capital’s club director is Dave Bayer. Dave played Division I college volleyball at Ball State University and has over 15 years of experience in Jr. club volleyball with some of the midwest’s top programs like Munciana, Milwaukee Sting and Sports Performance. Dave has coached over 100 athletes that have gone on to play DI volleyball over the years. Dave’s teams have won 8 national qualifiers and have always qualified for the USA Jr. Championships.
Cathy Noth will join the Capital staff as mentor and setters coach. Cathy is a former All-American at the University of Nebraska who also played on the USA National team as an alternate for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She was also an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska from 1988-1998 where she coached over 20 All-Americans and helped lead the Huskers to their first national championship in 1995. Cathy’s experience and coaching style is an asset for Capital players and coaches to learn from. For more on Cathy, check her website.
University of Wisconsin Head Coach Pete Waite will also be backing the staff this year. Pete will be training the Capital coaches twice a month as he helps them develop and improve coaching techniques, training techniques and coaching philosophy. Pete’s Badgers have won Big 10 Championships in 2000 and 2001 led by All-Americans Lizzy Fitzgerald (setter), Sherisa Livingston (middle blocker), Jenny Maastricht (outside hitter), and Erin Byrd (outside hitter). Pete’s Badger teams have been to the NCAA tournament 8 years in row, including two Elite 8 appearances. Pete is a two time Big 10 Coach of the Year and led the Badgers to the NCAA national championship finals in 2000.
